Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born October 20 1964. She is an American politician. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female to be elected vice president, and she also holds the title of highest-ranking female officer in American history. A member of the Democratic Party, she has previously served as attorney general for California between 2011 and 2017, and as the state's attorney general from 2011 to 2017 and as a United States senator representing California until 2021. Born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Her career began in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she became the San Francisco district attorney. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General of California and then re-elected in 2014. From 2017 to 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the first African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. As Senator, Harris was a vocal advocate for federal de-scheduling of healthcare, and legalization of cannabis, a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She was well-known for her direct questioning of Trump government officials in Senate hearings.
